New Hampshire and the White Mountains!

We had a 3 day weekend the first of August so we made a family trip up to New Hampshire for some hiking and the famous Story Land theme park! It's about a 4 hour drive from where we live.  We heard New Hampshire was beautiful and it didn't disappoint.  We had a great time!  Andrew and I both agree we want to make this trip again.

We saw this bear on the side of the road on our way to story land.

I have been waiting to see a covered bridge since coming to the east coast!

We were waiting for rain to clear up a bit before going to the theme park so we drove on some country roads for a scenic view.  We kept seeing signs that read "Moose Crossing-100's of accidents a year".  I think Andrew hoped we'd see a moose.  I was hoping we wouldn't!

This was a lake we stopped at and fed some fish.  The fish were deep in the water so you wouldn't see them until they popped out for the food .  The kids loved it!

Here is Story Land!  This was the first photo op.  This place was like Enchanted Forest back home but way bigger and cleaner.  Leif was scared of Humpty Dumpty because his eyes moved.

We baked the kids in a pie!

I just like this picture because of Leifs face.  I told him to growl like a tiger and he made this face while doing it.  Cracks me up!

Pinochio!

Family photo on Alice in Wonderland's teacup ride.  Andrew was not allowed to spin the wheel!

It rained a little bit on us so we ducked in the Carousel to dry off.  You could rock these horses back and forth.

The swan boats were fun! There was a bridge that went over this pond to Cinderella's castle.

This wasn't a ride just a photo spot.  The kids really wanted to get in it.

This is the Bamboo shoot ride.  Leif was just a quarter of an inch to short so I stayed back with him and took pictures.  I love that Cal is holding her nose.  Their is a big splash at the end but they didn't really get wet.

Cal was so scared I thought she was gonna start crying.  This shows it good.  Its like a laugh and cry all in one.  I asked her if she like it and she said "YES!"  Then I said do you want to do it again with mom and she said "NO!"  HA HA HA
Safari ride!  Leif and I were trapped inside this cage with wild animals!

This is our hiking day.  New Hampshire really is beautiful.  Reminds me of the northwest.

These are the kids in their first set of clothes.  I'm glad I packed extra clothes in the hiking pack.  It came in useful!

This hike was called Diana's Baths.  It was very cool!  We were just at the lower portion but these pot holes went for a while up the hill.

Cal fell in the water and then Leif!  He didn't like it so much.  Cal thought it was fun.

We also took a Gondola ride up to the top of Cannon Mountain.  The furthest mountain ridge you see in this photo is actually in Canada.

Inside the Gondola.  They had two running and one was yellow and the other red.  They are famously called ketchup and mustard.  They had t-shirts in the gift shop.

This is part of our hike to Flume Gorge.

This is one of my favorite hikes.  They had this wood path all through the gorge.

Us at the top of the Gorge.  Notice Leif's shirt.  I ran out of extras and I had one of Cal's tank tops.  But it was too big so I put this bandana around and through to keep the shirt on.  It worked and Leif could care less!

Near the end of the 2 mile Gorge hike.  The kids were tired, but had a lot of fun!  We stopped and had ice cream in the visitor center.  I have a ton of pictures from this trip so I hope this wasn't picture overload.  I really did narrow it down!

This is how 5 year olds party!

It's official she has turned the big 5!

Here is a recap of the weeks events...

Opening presents from Grandma Mills.  Notice Cal's delight and Leifs frustration of not being able to open the package.  Leif is also wearing two sets of pajamas!

Her new clip on earrings that she loves!

Her Cowgirl birthday party!

She specifically asked to play Pin the Tail on the Donkey.  Wish granted.

Lunch at the park after a few games.  The kids started taking off their hats because of the heat.

Horse Pinata time!

The gathering of the candy.  It was like chickens scurrying around for food.

The whole birthday group!  We had a great turn out this year!

Cal's My Little Pony cake and about to blow out the candles.

Opening presents with all her friends!

I can't believe she is already 5 and will be starting kindergarten this year.  Time sure does fly!

Dance Recital

We moved from Connecticut to Rhode Island the week before Cal's dance recital.  So we made the trip back so she could attend.  We got her flowers for after and she loved it!

Family Pic outside after the show.
She felt so pretty in her outfit!
This was her tap number.  They danced to "Twist and Shout".
This was her ballet dance.  They danced to the mother song off of the movie "Dumbo".

We've Had a Birthday!

My little Leify has turned 2!!!  We had a great day of trains, animals, presents and brownies!
Some fun things about Leif are he loves to watch "Elmo Adventures in Grouchland".  He loves to chew gum.  He likes to pretend to ride horses and gallops around the house.  He loves cars.  His favorite play spot is in the kitchen underneath the sink.  If I can't find him...I open the cupboard and there he is playing in the dark.  He adores his sister and loves to give her kisses and hugs.  He is a huge fan of nursery at church!  He loves to eat a bowl of cheerios for breakfast.  He loves to look at books and is always asking me to read to him.  We love Leif so much!

They have this cool train at our mall.
Leif was so excited to ride it!
We went to the pet store and they have a bunny area.  Leif loved it and had no fear.  He'd grab those bunnies by the ears and make'em move!
Ready for brownies!!
He tried and tried but Callie ended up helping him blow out his candles!
He's trying to hold up 2 fingers!
Diving right in!
The loot!
Opening presents!
He got a cool barn/farm from my mom.  He loves it!
