We took a family trip to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport last week. I was trying to explain to Callie what we were going to see. The only thing I could come up with to explain it best was that we were going 'under the sea'. She got really excited and wanted to see Ariel! So then I had to explain that we probably wouldn't see Ariel there, but we would see lots of fish and seals. Thank goodness she was still excited!!!

This is a 'Dory' type fish and a creepy eel!

They had this really cool tank that you could walk under and pop up in the middle to see the fish. Too bad in this picture there are no fish to be seen.

These were called 'Japanese Crabs' which are the biggest in the world. And I was totally creeped out. This picture does not do them justice. They are actually the size of half my body and could easily take me out. I still get chills just looking at them!

This was the trainer lady feeding the seals and having them do tricks. That was pretty fun to watch.

They had a little playground of aquatic creatures to play on. Here's Cal at the top of a whale slide.

Then after the aquarium we went to the old town of Newport to look at the seals. They were loving the sun and we got to see them fight over portions of the dock. Callie said they were too loud!

we've been trying to get down there forever, i think we might just have to go soon.. you guys made it look so fun!! Callie is a cutie :)
Callie's hair gets crazier and crazier. It's awesome.
How fun!! You guys are so adventurous!! And I agree with Callie, the seals are too loud, with all their barking and yelping and such!
I never did get down to Newport, but the Hubby did, and he loved it. Looks like something I would thoroughly enjoy!
Fun! I have seen ads for that place, but had no clue it was that entertaining/scary. I'm right there with the crabs. I'm not sure I'd like to see those in person.
FUN! I wish we could've come too! After looking at your blog and Heather's, I'm sure getting an itch to move back to the good ole' northwest. LOVE it!
Love you!
