We stopped in Billings, Montana to check out the temple.
Here's Callie sporting a neat replica military cap.
We stopped at the site of the Battle of Little Big Horn, also known as Custer's Last Stand. Pretty interesting. We spent 45 minutes listening to a park ranger give a presentation on EVERYTHING leading up to the fight. Needless to say, it turned out to be a bit long. The kids were getting antsy and were ready for a nap afterwards.
The memorial at the top of the hill.
On our way through Wyoming, we drove through the beginning of a huge rain storm, with lightning and thunder. We just missed the major downpour, it was pretty amazing.
Last, but not least, we celebrated Leif's birthday with a quick bite of cake. He loved it!
We are totally exhausted and ready for bed. Check back tomorrow night, hopefully we'll have some awesome pictures of Mt. Rushmore for your enjoyment.

Happy Birthday Leif!!! Loving all the pictures!!!
Please enlighten me. I just don't get Custer's last stand. From what I remember, we are memoralizing a an event where the guy was crazy and he got killed for it. Maybe I'm wrong. Since you had the great opportunity to listen to the story for 45 minutes, could you please share why they built the monument.
Amy, Andrew and Family- Looks like you're having a great trip. We are enjoying the updates. We are sorry we didn't really get to say good bye. Things seemed to happen so quickly. Good luck with the rest of your trip and keep us posted on things go.

I am loving all these updates! It's so fun to see your trip day by day. I can't believe Leif is one already. Goodness, that year went by fast.
That is so crazy that you're moving clear out east. I had no idea. What a drive with 2 kids. Sounds like they are doing remarkably well so far. I love that you are stopping at lots of temples along the way. Seeing the sights makes it more worth it I would assume. Good luck with the rest of the trip.
